Bradford is a city in West Yorkshire, England. Together with neighbouring towns and villages, Bradford forms the metropolitan district of the City of Bradford.
Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Bradford became a municipal borough in 1847, and received its charter as a city in 1897. The city status was transferred to the metropolitan district when it was formed in 1974.[3] It has a population of 293,717 with the district as a whole having 485,000 inhabitants.
